Dear Friends and Neighbours,

On behalf of the Parkview Hills Community Association Board of Directors, I thought I would take a moment and provide you with this brief and informative update.

We recently held a successful community clean-up on May 1st, and I would like to thank Board Members Dianne Hilliard and Angela Surdi for leading the organizational efforts. We had a great turn-out and with that, we were able to clean-up three areas in our neighbourhood – Parkview Gardens at Sandra, Northdale/Northline and the Alder Road ravine.

I’m sure many of us heard about the incident in our community involving a tractor-trailer crash near Alder Road. The Toronto Star, and a number of other media outlets, posted news stories on their website. Further information can be read online at http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/crime/article/804752–tractor-trailer-crashes-on-east-york-side-street

This past Wednesday, a number of our Board Members were volunteering on McHappy Day at local McDonald’s Restaurants that were raising funds for Toronto East General Hospital and the new emergency paediatric unit. A great time was had by all!

Finally, some of you may have seen a police cruiser and some yellow tape at the ravine near the intersection of Northdale and Northline this past week. A suspicious item was found and the police did their due diligence and sent it off for investigation. While this was happening, the scene had to be secured. After a brief investigation, it turned out that everything was fine and there is nothing for us to worry about.

Please mark down these upcoming dates in your calendar.

We hope to see you there!

*Parkview Gardens entrance – (at Sandra)

*Northdale entrance (at Northline)

*Alder Road entrance (to ravine)

‘Spring’ into action Parkview Hills

Let`s get outdoors and do our part to keep Parkview Hills clean and beautiful. Saturday May 1st, 2010 is the Parkview Hills Community Association`s Community Clean up Day. What better way to show you care about our community; than to pick up litter in our beloved ravine and parkettes.

Bring your kids, neighbours, family and friends to clean up the ravine closest to you at 10am. Meet at one of the three designated locations, bring gloves and a refillable water bottle.

With the good weather finally here, we find ourselves venturing out more, tending to gardens and taking leisurely strolls through our neighbourhood. It is a great time to say hello to your neighbours and get to know who lives on your street.

We all share the same streets, parks, and sidewalks. It is with this in mind, that the Parkview Hills Community Association reminds everyone in the neighbourhood that when you speed down a street in your car, it is YOUR street. Safety is ALL of our responsibility. Before you toss your wrapper, cigarette or coffee cup out at the curb; remember it is YOUR curb. When walking your dog, remember to pick up after them and share the sidewalk with others. It`s little things like this that makes our community such a great place to live and play.

Keeping Parkview Hills safe, clean and green is up to all of us!

RSVP to Angela Surdi at asurdi@sympatico.ca

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

I trust all of you had a great Christmas. I just wanted to quickly update the residents of Parkview Hills and inform them that Toronto Hydro has quickly responded to our communication with respect to the lighting at the Parkview Gardens Parkette – located at St. Clair Ave. E. and Sandra Road. Three of the four lights showing on the two walls have been repaired with the other light expected to be repaired shortly. It’s great to see the progress that’s been made on this important green space in our community.

Happy Holidays and, as always, please consider renewing your membership for 2010 if you haven’t already done so. You can download a form at www.parkviewhills.ca and send it back to us by mail. Please also consider e-mailing your neighbours and ask them to subscribe to our PHCA e-update. They can sign up at our website www.parkviewhills.ca

Sincerely,

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

On behalf of the Parkview Hills Community Association Board of Directors, I would like to wish all of you a Happy Holiday season.

I write you this note to inform you a local resident had their vehicle stolen from their driveway last weekend. There have also been some vehicle break-ins very recently and I think whatever we as neighbours can do to keep a watchful eye should be productive step. Don’t hesitate to report anything suspicious to 9-1-1 Emergency or 54 Division directly at 416-808-5400.

With the arrival of winter season, the PHCA Board would like to remind all neighbours to properly clear their snow – driveways, verandas and sidewalks. I know all pedestrians appreciate quick snow clearing as does our mailman.

Finally, consider forwarding this e-mail to your friends and neighbours and ask them to visit our website at www.parkviewhills.ca and subscribe to our e-updates. E-mail is an effective and very cheap form of communication. If you haven’t already done so, please consider renewing your membership to the Parkview Hills Community Association for 2010. A membership form can be downloaded off of our website.

All the best in 2010, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns in relation to our great neighbourhood.
